We count the creation of Darya Vetrova’s brand as the beginning of Yurta Interiors. Vetrova Home is a small team that maintains a textile showroom and production shop and a database of our partner textile manufacturers.
2016: First encounter
In 2016, Darya Vetrova and Almagul Akhmetbayeva met at an interior design project in Astana and began to conceive of a fruitful partnership.
2017: The Birth of Yurta Interiors
Over the course of several months, we searched for premises and partners, held many brainstorm sessions, visited exhibitions, began building our collection, expanded our staff, renovated, and began receiving deliveries of furniture and samples for the showroom.
2017: The Launch of Yurta Interiors
August 24th is the linchpin of Yurta Interiors’ history. We invited our clients, friends, colleagues, and partners from abroad to a beautiful and lavish launch celebration. The team has remained pretty much unchanged since the brand’s inauguration.
September 2017: Maison&Objet Exhibition
We found our first partners at this design exhibition in Paris, and learned about the production of furniture, lighting, decorative objects, and carpets. We also bought our first samples to build up our database.
2017: Round Table with Invited Experts
We helped organize an event featuring prominent Russian design experts: the interior critic Olga Kosyreva, the interior stylist Yulia Chebotar, and the photographer Sergey Ananyev. They shared their experiences working with Elle Decoration and AD Russia with an audience of local architects and interior designers and we met Kazakhstani designers.
2017: House in the Foothills
We supplied the furniture and all other furnishings for this project, including lighting, rugs, textiles, and even crockery and cutlery. This project was our first inspiring experience.
2017: First Steps
We were running several textile projects for new and existing clients in parallel to the House in the Foothills project. We handled deliveries of individual items and started working with designers.
September 2017: Visit to the Loro Piana Factory
We went to Milan to visit the brand’s factory. This was the beginning of our great friendship with Loro Piana, the famous Italian manufacturer of luxury fabrics.
November 2017: Interior Workshop
We invited interior stylist Yulia Chebotar to conduct a four-day workshop for local designers and decorators about how to stage professional shoots and design lifestyle projects. Yulia talked in detail about the importance of bringing interiors to completion and elaborated on the intricacies of the interior design profession.
2018: Publications in Design and Style Magazines
Starting this year, projects spearheaded by the designers Aizhan Kunayeva and Elina Musakulova that we have participated in have been regularly featured in the Russian interior design magazines Elle Decoration and AD Russia.
November 2018: Visit to the de Le Cuona Factory
We went to the brand’s factory in London. These trips are a source of inspiration, since they allow us to keep tabs on the latest trends and what our profession is up to.
April 2018: Isaloni 2018
We visited this furniture exhibition in Milan. Each trip to an exhibition is an opportunity to expand not only our working contacts, but also our designers’ artistic horizons.
May 2018: Master Class by Enjoy Home
More than 50 designers and design studio owners from all over Kazakhstan took part in our master class with Nadia Zotova, founder of Moscow-based Enjoy Home studio.
This international furniture fair in Milan became our annual source of inspiration.
May 2019: EVTEKS Exhibition
This is the first time we went to Istanbul’s famed textile exhibition, were we networked and got valuable contacts.
Fall 2019: Loro Piana New Collection Dinner
We hosted a gala dinner to celebrate our collaboration with the Loro Piana brand. The new collection was presented by Luca Zani, manager of the brand’s interior division.
October 2019: Decorex and PAD in London
We replenished our database of textile manufacturers and returned with the latest samples and catalogues.
January 2020: Maison&Objet in Paris
We learned about the hottest trends in the interior design world for the coming year.
January 2020: Deco Off in Paris
We headed to Deco Off to become inspired by new interiors and get acquainted with the latest trends.
January 2020: imm cologne in Cologne
We met with and got to know several European furniture manufacturers.
The design website featured our first major project, House in the Foothills, for which DA studio provided architectural and project management and Yurta Interiors the furnishings and décor.
September 2021: Number One in Heimtextil Russia
Darya Vetrova ranked first in the Heimtextil international competition (Moscow 2021) among the top 50 textile designers and decorators from CIS countries.
